Creating a community of quilters to share ideas, develop skills and encourage the tradition of quilt making.
Welcome to the Common Threads Quilt Guild's website. We are a group of people who have one thing in common--our love of quilts and the people who create them. We would love for you to join us. Please check out the About Us page for information on when and where we meet.
Hello Everyone! The reveal for the mystery and challenge were remarkable. Great job to those members who participated and the committee chairpersons, Pat Erickson and Grace Hoya. I have asked a small group of members to be on the nominating committee to recruit for next years board, a committee will not be available unless there is a chairperson. Take into consideration the newsletter if no one chairs the newsletter, next month will be the last one. I encourage you to please sign up for a committee. (As an aside, Barbara Sindlinger will be doing the newsletter.) Pam Padilla Guess the Quilter: This member has been married for 45 years and has 2 children and 2 grandchildren (who currently live with her). She has been quilting for 5 years and enjoys all aspects of quilting. Her favorite color is blue. She graduated from De Anza High School and was a cheerleader and an athlete. Her other hobbies are stamping, scrapbooking and reading. She has traveled Calif, Hawaii, Tennessee, Kentucky and Arizona! In her spare time, she offers stamping classes in her home. Who am I? Bring your guess written down with your name to the next meeting (keep it a secret) and drop it in the jar. A prize will be awarded to a winner. Good Luck!
Kings Art Center "Creative Stitches: The Art of Quilting" Photos of the opening reception and of the show quilts are posted in the Show & Tell) page. Curator John Robinson expressed how impressed he is with all the talent and artistic creativity. He says we will definitely be invited back for a fourth show in November 2009. Robinson has a couple of requests, however. He'd like to have one very high quality twin size traditional quilt to display along with the contemporary artistic pieces. Also, he'd love to see a full size quilted kimono. So there's a couple of challenges that we have a year to create.
